Schumann | Mahler

Robert Schumann's Violin Concerto has been misunderstood for decades, until it made its way into the repertoire of the great violin virtuosos. Isabelle Faust, one of the highly renowned violin players of our time, performs the technically demanding concerto with François-Xavier Roth and the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln. With the performance of Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony, François-Xavier Roth builds on a long tradition: In 1904 Mahler himself conducted the Gürzenich-Orchester, when it premiered his Fifth Symphony. The strong connection of the orchestra and Mahler lasts until today.
