In its long history the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne has named two honorary conductors. Günter Wand, who played an important part in Cologne’s musical life from 1946 to 1974 as General Music Director and Gürzenich Music Director, and Dmitri Kitaenko. The orchestra has been working closely with the Russian conductor for over 30 years. Award-winning recordings demonstrate the successful collaboration.
